OUR COMMITMENT
Blazin Chicken & Gyro is committed to providing a fully accessible website experience for all users of all abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers, screen enlargement software, and alternative keyboard input devices to navigate the web.
ONGOING EFFORTS TO ENSURE ACCESSIBILITY
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 as our guiding principle for determining accessibility. These are internationally agreed upon standards that cover a wide range of recommendations and best practices for making content usable. As we add new pages and functionality to our website, all designs, code, and content entry practices are checked against these standards.
Website accessibility is an ongoing process. We continually test content and features for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and remediate any issues to ensure we meet or exceed the standards. Testing of our website is performed by our team members using industry standard tools such as the Accessibility Checker WordPress plugin, color contrast analyzers, keyboard only navigation techniques, and Flesch Kincaid readability tests.
ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES ON OUR WEBSITE
The following is a list of items we have included in our website to improve its accessibility:
- Keyboard Navigation Support. A skip to content link lets keyboard users bypass the site menus and go straight to the page content.
- Visible Focus Indicators. Clear high contrast outlines show which link, button or form field has keyboard focus.
- Zoom Friendly Pages. Pages can be enlarged with pinch zoom or browser zoom on every device.
- New Window Warnings. Links that open in a new tab, such as online ordering and our social profiles, are labeled so assistive technology announces it.
- Labeled Forms and Buttons. Our catering, careers and contact forms carry programmatic labels so screen readers can read each field and button.
WHERE WE ARE IMPROVING
In our efforts to bring our website up to standard, we are targeting the following areas:
- Alternative Text Audit. Reviewing our media library so every menu photo, location image and icon carries descriptive alternative text for screen readers.
- Color Contrast Consistency. Adjusting text colors on red location cards, labels and menu tabs so all text meets the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio.
- Touch Target Size. Enlarging small controls such as map pins and photo gallery dots so they are easier to tap on a phone.
- Third Party Tools. Continuously evaluating our online ordering links, chat widget, cookie banner and careers application form to resolve any keyboard traps.
